Industrial Customers

Waste generated at businesses that produce goods on a mass scale are generally defined as an industrial trade waste customer.

Industrial trade waste customers represent the greatest risk to the sewer system because of the volume and concentration of substances being discharged.

Industrial customers include, but are not limited to the following businesses:

  • Abattoir
  • Cannery
  • Dairy
  • Small goods producer
  • Pickling
  • Cereals producer
  • Meat packing
  • Brewery
  • Winery

Becoming an industrial customer

Industrial customers who want to discharge trade waste into the sewer system must submit an application which will be assessed in accordance with our Industrial Risk Assessment.

Customers are required to enter into an agreement with us before discharging trade waste from a property. This is a legal contract that outlines the conditions in which we will accept trade waste as well as any required pre-treatment. The agreement outlines the quality of trade waste that will be accepted, the sampling frequency and the consequences of any breach of the agreement.
