I'm renting

If you’re a renter moving into a new property or moving out of your current one, find out what you need to do.

If you are renting, what you need to do depends on whether you’re moving in or moving out. To find out more, choose one of the following options to see the details below.

Moving in

Please complete our Tenant Entering form to register tenant(s) at a residential property. Once the tenant is registered, they will receive a separate bill for their water usage. The landowner will continue to be responsible for all service charges.

We’re unable to register tenants at properties that are not separately metered, such as owner corporations or dual occupancies.

If a meter reading is not provided, North East Water will arrange a reading and a fee will be charged to the land owner’s account. For the provided reading to be valid, it must be taken within 7 days of the tenant moving in and after the previous tenant has vacated.

If you are vacating another property as a tenant, please also complete the Tenant Vacating form. You will be responsible for any usage charges until a tenant vacating notification and valid reading is obtained.

Moving out

Please complete the Tenant Vacating form to finalise tenant(s) at a residential property. All tenants will be vacated from property upon receipt of this form. If any tenants are remaining in the property a new tenant entering form will need to be completed.

If a meter reading is not provided, North East Water will arrange a reading. The tenant will be responsible for usage charges up to this reading date.

For the provided reading to be valid, it must be taken no earlier than 2 days prior to the move out date.

If you are entering another property as a tenant, please also complete the Tenant Entering form.
