Emergency water main replacement in Rutherglen

27 June 2025

Recently there have been several water main breaks that have impacted customers near Hopetoun Road in Rutherglen.

We know how disruptive this has been for residents and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.

While the exact cause is still being investigated, recent heavy rain following a long dry spell may have caused ground movement, leading to the bursts.

Our crews have worked swiftly and safely to restore services each time, and we’ve now begun emergency works to replace a large section of the affected water main – this is our top priority and work is expected to be finshed within two weeks.

Scheduled water outages

This work will see water supply turned off during the period below:

Area:

Barkley Street, Battery Road, Deas Lane, Hopetoun Road, Humphreys Road, Millers Lane & Waldrons Lane, Rutherglen

Date:

Friday 4 July 2025

Time:

9.30am to 2.30pm

Several homes on Battery Road, Humphreys Road, & Waldrons Lane will also have supply interrupted  Wednesday 2 July 9.30am to 2.30pm.

This will be followed by a second stage of repair work involving the replacement of a larger stretch of pipe, and is likely to commence soon after the completion of stage one.

We thank the community for their patience and understanding as we work to fix this issue and prevent further disruptions.
