The Water Treatment Operator consistently executes water treatment tasks, ensuring smooth and efficient operations while minimising disruptions and upholding system integrity to deliver safe drinking water.

In this role you will collaborate effectively within the team, ensuring timely data input into treatment systems and providing prompt reporting of operational trends and issues.

The role is primarily based in Wangaratta, and you will be a part of the ‘West’ team that covers the picturesque primary areas of Wangaratta, Benalla, and King Valley.

This role is a full-time opportunity until late April 2026, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options. The general hours of work are between 7am and 4:30pm and once deemed competent, you will be required to participate in a seven-day on call roster every 3-4 weeks which operates from a Tuesday until the following Tuesday.

Key selection criteria

To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria: 

  • Ability to problem solve and use critical thinking to solve practical challenges.
  • Ability to accurately input data into systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to act within an Occupational Health and Safety mindset.
  • Experience in the water industry or experience in a position with a transferrable skill set i.e. treatment, sampling and testing, or similar.
  • Certificate III in Water Treatment or equivalent is not required but an advantage. Willingness to obtain is essential (sufficient support will be provided from the organisation).
