Recruitment information for a Water & Sewer Network Operator position at North East Water.

Position Information

Salary + additional remuneration
  • $59,237 to $63,192 (no relevant qualification) plus 12% superannuation (with the opportunity to gain a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations and progress to the below).

 

  • $65,028 to $75,160 (qualified plumber or certificate in Water Industry Operations or similar) plus 12% superannuation. 

 

  • This role is eligible for our industry and wastewater allowances which add over $2,600 to your remuneration per year!
  • In this role you will participate in an on-call availability roster for 7 days approximately every 4 weeks. This includes an on-call allowance of over $500 (per week of on-call) plus any applicable overtime hours and rates.
Hours per week
  • Full time, ongoing (Monday to Friday).
  • General working hours for this position are between 7:30am and 4:30pm.
  • On call once deemed competent - Seven-day on call roster (Tuesday to Tuesday) every 4 weeks.
Location
  • Primarily based in Benalla.
  • Part of our ‘Benalla’ reticulation team that services from Benalla up through to Goorambat, Devenish and St James, and support other teams in the Reticulation West area as needed. 
  • This is a field-based operator role that will require travel within the service area with a vehicle available for any travel required.

Mandatory Requirements
  • Candidates must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or a foreign national with authorisation to work in Australia
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Successful applicants will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including a police check and/or pre-employment medical and functional testing where applicable.

 

General day to day duties

  • Emergency repairs on water and wastewater pipes and assets.
  • Scheduled maintenance on water and wastewater pipes and assets.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of sewer pump stations.
  • Water meter inspections, readings, and repairs.
  • Inspection of assets.
  • Completion of electronic work orders and data entry.
  • Ordering and collecting parts and materials.
  • Basic site and ground maintenance.
  • Other duties as required.

 

This role is a full-time, ongoing opportunity including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.

You will be part of our ‘Benalla’ reticulation team that services from Benalla up through to Goorambat, Devenish and St James, and support other teams in the Reticulation West area as needed.

Key Selection Criteria

To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria:

  1. Understanding of and/or experience in asset (such as pipes and pumps) and equipment monitoring and maintenance.
  2. Basic computer skills with the ability to conduct system checks, complete electronic work orders and input information.
  3. Understanding of and/or experience in the maintenance of water and sewer networks, is desirable but not required. 
  4. Licence or competency in the use of excavation equipment, is not required but a willingness to obtain is essential.
  5. Current Medium Rigid Drivers licence is desirable but not required (willingness to obtain is essential).
