About the role

The Accounting Lead ensures the business is well positioned through:
•    Progressive financial reporting systems including working in partnership with stakeholders to assist efficient financial reporting processes both monthly and annually.
•    Overseeing timely payments and integrity of internal controls relating to accounts payable.
•    Ensuring ongoing review of systems policies and procedures in accordance with accounting standards, Financial Reporting Directions, and the Corporation’s needs.
•    Assisting in ensuring accounting records facilitate sound financial management of the Corporation.

As a Lead, you will motivate and mentor the accounting team to ensure obligations and goals are achieved effectively and efficiently.

This role is a full-time, ongoing opportunity including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.

Key selection criteria

To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria:

  • Formal qualification in accounting or business, or progression towards completion of degree, with demonstrated experience in a financial environment.
  • Experience preparing financial statements for management reporting and external financial audit requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience of key financial processes, including general ledger reconciliations, monthly and year end reporting.
  • Experience in the water industry or ‘Not for Profit’ sector is highly desirable along with interpretation of accounting standards as they relate to financial reporting.
  • Experience leading, motivating, mentoring and/or managing a team.
