Sewage spill at rear of Witt St, Benalla

North East Water crews are managing a sewage spill that occurred in Benalla on the morning of Wednesday, 9 August.
The spill occurred from a break in sewer connection at the rear of 30 Witt Street, where it has entered a stormwater channel. The spill has ceased and repair works are underway to rectify the issue. The public is advised to avoid the area in the interim.
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has been notified and attended the site, and warning signs and barricading will be placed at the site to deter public access. Water sampling of the stormwater channel is being undertaken to understand the impact to the waterway.
