Sewage spill in Tallangatta

North East Water staff have cleaned up a minor sewage spill from a sewer main in Tallangatta on Wednesday 8 April 2026.
The spill occurred at a maintenance access point on Queen Elizabeth Drive and entered an unnamed waterway.
Due to dry conditions, the waterway is not currently connected to Lake Hume, and the spill did not reach the lake.
Remediation works have been completed at the site, and signage and barricades have been erected advising people to avoid contact with the area for several days.
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has been notified of the spill.
