Breach causes sewage spill in Wangaratta

North East Water staff repaired a sewer main following a spill into the Ovens River at Wangaratta on 26 May.
The failure occurred on a main that runs along the Stockbridge at Apex Park resulting in sewage entering the waterway.
Services have since been restored, with all repair work and cleanup completed.
Signage and barricades have been placed at each site to prevent public access.
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has been notified and river water sampling will continue for several days to understand the impact of the spill.
