Blockage causes sewage spill in Wangaratta

North East Water staff have cleaned up a minor sewage spill from a sewer main in Wangaratta.
The spill occurred due to a pipe blockage on Vincent Road and entered the nearby One Mile Creek.
The site has been flushed and disinfected, with water samples to be collected for analysis.
Signage and barricades have been erected and as a precaution we are advising people to avoid contact with the area and waterway for several days.
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has been notified of the spill.
