Water treatment plant backwash system repaired after discharge

Mechanical failure in a backwash system has resulted in a discharge from North East Water's Wodonga Water Treatment Plant.
The discharge entered a stormwater drain on Huon Hill before reaching Jack-in-the-Box Creek.
Repair works to restore normal operation have been completed and clean-up works are scheduled to start today. Signs have been placed at the stormwater drain to prevent public access.
The Environment Protection Authority has been notified and water sampling in Jack-in-the-Box Creek undertaken to understand any impact on the waterway.
