Sewage spill in Beechworth

North East Water is responding to a sewage spill in Beechworth that occurred on Wednesday 15 July 2026.
The spill came from a sewer access point on John Street and entered nearby Spring Creek.
Clean-up and remediation works are underway and water sampling and monitoring will also be carried out to assess any potential environmental impacts.
As a precaution, signage has been installed and members of the public are advised to avoid the affected area for several days.
The Environment Protection Authority Victoria has been notified.
