Clean-up underway after sewage spill in Tangambalanga

North East Water is managing the clean-up of a sewage spill in Tangambalanga after heavy rainfall on Sunday 9 August 2026.
The spill occurred near Kiewa East Road, where wastewater entered a stormwater drain and discharged into nearby floodwaters connected to an unnamed waterway.
As a precaution, warning signs have been installed and people are advised to avoid contact with the affected area until further notice.
North East Water has notified the Environment Protection Authority and will continue to monitor the area.
