Our water treatment plants and town water supply systems in fire affected communities have been kept operational over the last few days.
Some fires burnt up to the boundaries of plants and storages, and we thank the CFA for helping to protect these vital community assets.
Treatment processes remain in operation at these plants and all water supplied by North East Water is safe to drink.
We thank our customers for being mindful of their water use during their bushfire preparations. We also thank our staff, who under extreme conditions, made extraordinary efforts to keep town supplies operating.
Please note that our normal administrative and operational services may be impacted over the coming weeks as our staff prioritise workloads due to the bushfires.
We would like to remind customers over the summer months ahead, to consider an independent water supply as part of your bushfire preparations. During bushfires we may not be able to maintain town supply or pressure due to an extreme increase in demand. Please be mindful of using mains water before a fire front arrives. The CFA recommends storing a minimum of 10,000 litres with a non-electric pump to protect your home.
