How to lodge Freedom of Information request.

The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the ‘FOI Act’) allows the public a right of access to documents held by the Corporation.

You can request access to documents held by North East Water by writing to the FOI Officer or by completing the FOI Request Form.

Send your request in the post with the accompanying application fee to:

Please provide sufficient information to enable North East Water to identify documents you seek.

Responding to your request

Your request will be dealt with in accordance with the FOI Act. This means that you may either be granted access to documents in full, in part, or access may be denied in some cases.

If we decide an exemption under the Act is applicable, we will provide you with the reasons for making this decision and also advise of your rights to appeal.

In accordance with the FOI Act we will communicate this decision to you no later than 30 days after your request is received or clarified.

Fees and charges

There is a non-refundable application fee of $32.70 (current for 2024-25) for all FOI requests in Victoria. If payment would cause you hardship you can request it to be waived with evidence of hardship required.

Further charges may be payable for time spent searching for documents and photocopying. You will be advised if these charges are going to exceed $50.00 and asked for a deposit if you want us to continue to process your request.
