Recruitment information for a Mechanical Wastewater Treatment Operator position at North East Water.

Position Information

Salary
  • $59,237 to $63,192 (no qualification) plus 12% superannuation (with the opportunity to gain a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations and progress to the below).

 

  • $65,028 to $75,160 (Certificate in Water Industry Operations or similar) plus 12% superannuation.

 

  • This role receives our industry and wastewater allowances which add over $2,750 to your remuneration per year!
  • On-call allowance of over $500 per week plus attractive overtime hours and rates!
Hours per week
  • Full time, ongoing including a monthly RDO, paid annual, sick and carers leave + flexible work options (such as a 9-day fortnight).
  • General hours of work are between 7:30am and 4:30pm (Monday to Friday).
Location
  • Part of our Mechanical Wastewater Treatment team servicing West Wodonga, Bellbridge and Mount Beauty mechanical wastewater treatment plants (base location flexible within this region).

Mandatory Requirements
  • Candidates must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or a foreign national with authorisation to work in Australia
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence

Exciting and Unique Opportunity

 

At North East Water we are currently expanding our largest wastewater treatment plant with the addition of anaerobic digestors to create renewable energy that can be used ‘behind the meter’ and meet our 100% renewable energy vision. This role will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working with this exciting new technology!

This role is part of our Mechanical Wastewater Treatment team that currently manages three mechanical wastewater treatment plants based in Bellbridge, Mount Beauty and West Wodonga. This provides the opportunity to expand your knowledge of wastewater treatment while enjoying the opportunity to work in one of Victoria’s most beautiful regions.

In this role, you will have access to a diverse range of learning opportunities, allowing you to expand your knowledge and skills in the field of wastewater treatment + more!

This role is a full-time opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options. The general hours of work are between 7am and 4:30pm and once deemed competent, you will be required to participate in a seven-day on call roster every 4 weeks which operates from a Tuesday until the following Tuesday.

 

In this role you will:

  • Execute mechanical wastewater treatment tasks, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Maintain a strong record of safety and compliance in all mechanical wastewater treatment operations.
  • Collaborate and be part of a flexible, multi-skilled mechanical wastewater treatment team.

Key Selection Criteria

To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria:

  1. Ability to problem solve, prioritise and complete tasks within set timeframes under minimal supervision.
  2. Knowledge and experience in wastewater treatment / the water industry or experience in a position with a transferrable skill set i.e. mechanical, construction, manufacturing or similar.
  3. Basic computer skills with the ability to conduct system checks and input information into systems.
  4. Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (desirable but willingness to obtain through NEW is essential).
  5. Driver’s licence (required) and medium rigid truck licence (desirable).
