As an Electrical Technician at North East Water, you’ll play a pivotal role in optimising the performance of our water and wastewater infrastructure ensuring reliable and efficient service delivery to our communities.
The role involves maintaining and supporting our Electrical, Automation and SCADA systems, while contributing to a variety of diverse and specialised projects. You’ll also have access to a broad range of learning opportunities, to expand your knowledge and skills in industrial control systems and the water industry.
As part of our Industrial Control Systems team, you’ll help service the communities of the North East region, while enjoying the opportunity to work in one of Victoria’s most beautiful regions.
This is a full-time, ongoing position offering RDO’s and flexible work arrangements.
The general work hours are 7:30am to 4pm Monday to Friday. In this role you will receive additional remuneration through the participation in an on-call roster every 4-7 weeks from Tuesday until the following Tuesday.
General day-to-day duties:
- Breakdown response for electrical and automation equipment
- Installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment
- Preventive maintenance tasks
- Optimising control systems for water and wastewater infrastructure
- Provide technical support for operational staff and activities
- Monitoring and maintenance of SCADA and telemetry systems
- Completion of admin tasks such as timesheets and electronic work orders
- Participation in the after hours on call roster

Key Selection Criteria
To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria:
Essential on application:
1. Current Victorian A Grade Electrical License or ability to obtain.
2. Current Driver’s License.
3. Knowledge or experience in the repair, maintenance, design and delivery of industrial control systems.
4. Sound computer skills in a range of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Desirable but not required on application:
5. Training or qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Industrial Automation or Electrical Engineering is highly desirable.
6. Trade qualifications or equivalent experience in instrumentation.
7. Ability to design and modify electrical schematics with the use of AutoCAD Electrical.
