About the role

The Capital Project Management Officer coordinates North East Water’s project management system including program monitoring and performance reporting.

The role leads reporting, tendering and contract administration processes relating to water and wastewater infrastructure capital investment to support the delivery of NEW’s capital program.

This role is a full-time opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
 

A snapshot of your day

  • Identify and lead opportunities to enhance NEW’s project management system.
  • Coordinate ongoing performance reporting of the water and wastewater infrastructure capital program.
  • Regularly engage with project management resources.
  • Support project managers to develop project management plans.
  • Oversee approvals of project management plans and documentation in the Record Management System (RMS).
  • Ensure the consideration of options, multi-criteria analysis, costings, contingencies, risk analysis are recorded by project managers in RMS.
  • Compile monthly program reports including budget forecasts, revised delivery projections and tracking resource plans and schedules to enable real-time visibility across the water and wastewater infrastructure capital program.
  • Capture project closures, lessons learned, asset commissioning and hand-over. 
  • Provide strategic project management advice to the Corporation.
  • Undertake research, evaluation and analysis to contribute to the development and implementation of the water and wastewater infrastructure capital program, project and change management tools, frameworks and processes.

Key selection criteria

To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria:

  1. Demonstrated experience in coordinating project management system/s.
  2. Demonstrated experience in preparing capital project tender documentation and administering associated contracts.
  3. Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide leadership and coaching and to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  4. Knowledge and experience in coordinating the development of project management plans.
  5. Demonstrated experience in maintaining, monitoring and performance reporting of capital programs.
  6. Demonstrated project management experience is highly desirable.
