Planned Interruptions
North East Water operates 30 separate water supply systems throughout the North East and from time to time it becomes necessary to interrupt supply to our customers for short periods to enable us to undertake essential maintenance works including repairs, replacements and water main cleaning.
How are Customers advised?
Naturally no prior notification can be provided for unplanned interruptions caused by burst water mains, power failures etc. but whenever planned works are to be undertaken customers will receive at least 24 hours written notice delivered to their letter box.
The notice will advise of the date and expected duration of the planned interruption.
What precautions should be taken?
Prior to the advised commencement time you should store sufficient water (ie. jugs or buckets etc.) to provide for your needs over the proposed interruption period.
Do not use water heating appliances, including hot water services during the interruption period.
