The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading the delivery of high complexity projects and programs through all aspects of the Project Management Framework. This involves systematic and documented planning, design, implementation, commissioning, verification, and start-up activities.


Reporting to the Team Leader Capital Delivery, this role is part of our ‘West’ team with the opportunity to get out and about in the beautiful north east region surrounding Beechworth, Mount Beauty, Benalla, Wangaratta and Yarrawonga. The West team is responsible for delivering a large program of capital works including major treatment plant upgrades, supply mains, and sewer pump stations.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple high complexity projects concurrently through all aspects of the Project Management Framework.
  • Develop the Corporation's capital infrastructure projects and programs.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and report on project time, resourcing, and cost performance and assist the Team Leader with program reporting.
  • Develop and deliver Capital Program budgets.
  • Obtain and lead project resources including teams of multi-disciplinary professionals.
  • Lead high-criticality community and stakeholder consultation.
  • Provide expertise and experience in construction procurement activities including developing tender documents and evaluating tender responses.
  • Independently administer complex contracts whilst acting as a Superintendent’s Representative.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to project managers and other business units.
  • Deliver short, medium, and long-term plans to support the delivery of the Capital Investment Program.
  • Develop technical specifications, engineering standards and contract requirements for capital projects.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation’s project management documentation.

Key Selection Criteria

To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria:

  1. Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships and influence decision making to achieve project outcomes.
  2. Understanding of standards, codes and practices relevant to water infrastructure design and delivery.
  3. Extensive experience in engineering, contract and project management and delivery of infrastructure projects in accordance with frameworks and review processes.
  4. Extensive experience and understanding of water and wastewater engineering systems. 
  5. Tertiary qualification recognised by Engineers Australia in an engineering discipline relevant to the role (civil, mechanical, environmental and/or chemical).
