Sewage spill in South Wangaratta

North East Water staff have cleaned up a sewage spill from a sewer main in Wangaratta.
The spill occurred at a maintenance access point at the South Wangaratta Reserve on Shanley Street and entered the nearby Three Mile Creek.
The site has been flushed and disinfected, with water samples to be collected for analysis.
Signage and barricades have been erected and as a precaution we are advising people to avoid contact with the area and waterway for several days.
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has been notified of the spill.
