Sewage spill cleaned-up in Glenrowan
7 June 2021
North East Water staff have cleaned up a small sewage spill caused by tree roots that blocked a sewer main in Glenrowan.
The spill occurred on Church Streets on Friday 4 June 2021 and entered a nearby storm water drain.
Executive Operations, John Day, said the Environment Protection Authority has been notified of the spill.
"The blockage has now been rectified, with our operations team also flushing and disinfecting the spill location", Mr Day said.
“We are advising people to avoid the area for several days and abide by nearby signage.”
Mr Day added, “We’d also like to take this opportunity to remind people that only the 3P’s should go down the loo – pee, poo and (toilet) paper.”
“Cooking fats and grease should be poured into a container and placed in the bin, while wet wipes should also be put in the rubbish."
