Wet wipes cause sewer spill in Wodonga

6 September 2021

North East Water staff have cleaned up a small sewage spill caused by wet wipes and fats blocking a sewer main in Wodonga.

The spill occurred on Blue Bonnet Way on Sunday 5 September 2021 and entered a nearby stormwater system.

The blockage has been rectified and the area has been flushed and disinfected.

The Environment Protection Authority has been notified of the spill.

People should remember that only the 3P’s should go down the loo – pee, poo and (toilet) paper.

Wet wipes should never be flushed, and cooking fats and grease should also be placed in the bin.
