Some of North East Water’s customers in Bandiana may be without or have reduced water supply for several hours after a major water main break this morning.
The Corporation is working to repair the break, which feeds approx. 200 homes and businesses including parts of the Homemaker Centre precinct.
Managing Director, Craig Heiner, said the Corporation’s top priority is to restore the supply as soon as possible.
“Our staff are working hard to conduct the repair on one of the city’s larger water mains”, Mr Heiner said.
“We have activated an incident management team which includes notifications to critical customers.
“The team is well on the way to solving this issue and restoring supply, and we will notify customers as soon as this occurs.”
Mr Heiner added, “The main was damaged by a contractor working on a subdivision in the area.”
“We are now trying to restore water as quickly as possible, and we will conduct a thorough investigation once services are restored.
“I want to apologise to customers who are affected by this interruption and thank them for their patience while we work through this issue.”
