Blue-green algae cause taste and odour to drinking water customers in Tallangatta
27 January 2021
North East Water customers in Tallangatta may notice a taste and odour to their drinking water supplies over coming days.
This issue is caused by a blue-green algae bloom in Lake Hume.
We are doing everything we can in our treatment processes including the use of powder activated carbon. However, when levels of blue-green algae are at high levels, it can be difficult to remove all the taste and odour from drinking water.
We want to assure people that the water meets all Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and is safe to drink.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and for more information about blue-green algae, you can visit www.newater.com.au/bga.
