Sewage spill cleaned-up in Wodonga
27 November 2019
North East Water staff have cleaned up a small sewage spill caused by tree roots blocking a sewer trunk main near the Hume Freeway in Wodonga.
Some of the leaked wastewater entered a nearby stormwater drain on McCoy Street on Tuesday 26 November 2019.
Executive Operations, John Day, said the Environment Protection Authority has been notified of the spill.
"The affected main has been unblocked and we have cleaned and disinfected the nearby area", Mr Day said.
“We are advising people to avoid contact with stormwater in the area for several days.”
