North East Water a White Ribbon workplace
07 June 2019
North East Water has become a White Ribbon Workplace after introducing policies and practices to help prevent and respond to domestic violence.
The Corporation recently completed an 18-month accreditation process with White Ribbon and successfully demonstrated zero tolerance to domestic violence inside and outside the workplace.
Acting Managing Director, Anthony Hernan, said domestic violence poses substantial risk to the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers.
“We have committed to stop violence against all people and create a safer and more respectful workplace”, Mr Hernan said.
“Our culture, policies, procedures, communication and training strategies on the issue of domestic violence were extensively assessed as part of the accreditation program.
“The Corporation actively endorses measures to support women, children and men who are experiencing domestic violence.
“We offer assistance to employees who are affected by it and our staff have also been trained in supporting our customers."
Mr Hernan added, “All workplaces play a critical role in helping to prevent domestic violence.”
“Through collaboration with others to better understand the issues, we can work together to make it a thing of the past.”
