New directors join water corporation board
28 October 2019
North East Water will this week welcome three new directors following their recent appointment to the Corporation’s Board by the Minister for Water, Lisa Neville.
Christopher Mirams, Victoria Schmidt and Angela Verde will join on-going Directors including Rosemary Bissett, Stephen Brown, Brendan Foran and Chair, Cath Botta.
Ms Botta said Board renewal is an exciting time for the Corporation as it comes with a fresh perspective on many issues.
“We will continue to improve on having a diverse and inclusive organisation, building the skills of our staff to help prepare us for a changing climate”, Ms Botta said.
“Our focus is securing the water resources and infrastructure needed for the expected dry times ahead.
“The Corporation has committed to a $140 million capital program through to 2026 and the Board will have strong oversight of that agenda.
“The new Directors will add another level of expertise to help shape our business as that period progresses.
“With uncertainty around ongoing water security issues and our journey towards zero carbon emissions, their skills will certainly be an asset for the Corporation well into the future.
Ms Botta added, “I would like to thank outgoing board members Gayle Lee, Helen Tobin-King and Neil Ward for their efforts and recognise their valuable work over the past several years.”
“Their contribution to the governance of North East Water and the water sector has been outstanding.”
