Building projection to celebrate NAIDOC Week
6 July 2021
North East Water is celebrating NAIDOC Week by projecting the artwork of several local Aboriginal artists onto the front of its head office in Wodonga.
NAIDOC Week is an annual event (4-11 July 2021) that celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Executive Corporate Services, Anthony Hernan, said the water corporation is proud to take part in the week.
“We’ll be displaying art from renowned north-east and border artists including Stephen Berger, Mick Bogie, Kelly Lock and Karin McMillan”, Mr Hernan said.
“Using our building façade is a very prominent and visual way to showcase their talent and creativity.
“All the artwork has a water theme which recognises the strong cultural connection that First Nations people have to the land and water within this region.
Mr Hernan added, “The projection is another small step in our reconciliation journey with the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we operate.”
“We hope this art projection helps demonstrate our respect for their elders, past, present and emerging.”
The imagery will be on display between 6pm to 8pm, Monday to Friday, 5 to 9 July 2021 (weather permitting).
