Lifting of precautionary boil water advisory

North East Water, after consultation with the Department of Health and Human Services, advises customers that the Boil Water Advisory Notice issued on 22 December 2019 is now lifted.
The issue of disinfection failure at the Oxley Water Treatment Plant has now been rectified, and further interlocks have been implemented to prevent this type of incident from happening again. The reticulation system has been flushed. Water quality testing has confirmed that the water supply is safe.
It is recommended that owners and residents flush internal taps for 2 minutes to draw fresh water into their internal plumbing.
North East Water would like to apologise for the inconvenience, in particular noting the time of year and thank you for your patience. We take the delivery of SAFE drinking water very seriously and do not issue these notices lightly.
