Water
The treatment and delivery of high-quality water is a cornerstone of our business.
Five major rivers service the majority of the towns in North East Victoria: the Murray, Ovens, King, Kiewa and Mitta Mitta. The remaining towns are supplied with groundwater or surface water from other minor watercourses.
Ten towns in North East Victoria draw their water from reservoirs. The reservoirs provide additional security of supply to these towns during the drier periods when flows in the local streams can be unreliable.
We employ several different methods to treat and disinfect your water before it arrives in your home.
Protecting the health of our customers through the provision of high-quality treated drinking water is the cornerstone of our business. We regularly monitor compliance against water quality standards to ensure we achieve our aims.
North East Water operates and maintains over 1400 kilometres of water mains and pipes throughout the region.
The infrastructure required to supply water to our 38 towns includes water treatment plants, pumping stations, tanks, towers, service basins, reservoirs and pipes.
