Environmental Management System

North East Water has an Environmental Management System (EMS), which we see as a critical tool for managing environmental risk and the impact of our operations, products and services on the environment. It provides an integrated and systematic framework that enables us to:

· Improve our environmental performance

· Proactively manage environmental issues

· Effectively respond to environmental incidents

The EMS is a key element in achieving our mission, vision and business strategy, which states that we will go beyond compliance, and become an environmental champion and leader. North East Water maintains an EMS that is externally accredited to ISO 14001:2004.

Land Stewardship

North East Water is committed to the sustainable management of the land that we own and manage.  Our landholdings provide an important linkage between our operational requirements as land managers (why we retain the land) and our broader obligations as land managers within the community (being good neighbours). Importantly, these sites have enabled North East Water to demonstrate and share its strategic goals with the broader community.
