Community Engagement

North East Water is committed to ensuring our customers and communities and informed and involved in our wastewater and water services and planning.  Through our Community Engagement program we aim to develop a shared understanding of community needs and expectations. 


 
North East Water has an extensive engagement program which enables us to consult our customers and communities regarding water and wastewater services and planinng. Our Community Engagement Policy outlines our strong commitment to ensuring our communities are informed and involved in the work we undertake.
Residents will be aware North East Water (NEW) and Rural City of Wangaratta (RCOW) have been working towards a solution to wastewater management in Oxley that addresses current risks to the environment and public health, and supports Oxley’s future status as a desirable place to live and a popular tourist destination.
Residents will be aware North East Water (NEW) and Rural City of Wangaratta (RCOW) have been working towards a solution to wastewater management in Milawa that addresses current risks to the environment and public health, and supports Milawa’s future status as a desirable place to live and a popular tourist destination.
Eskdale residents have been able to connect to the North East Water system since 30 November 2009, and the majority of residents are now connected.
Site preparation works for the new Myrtleford Clearwater storage commenced in early August 2009. This storage is the first stage of the Water Treatment Plant Upgrade approved by the Board of North East Water in late 2008. Works on the new direct filtration water treatment plant are expected to commence before the end of 2009.
North East Water is pleased to launch its Customer Feedback Register. We are seeking interested community members to join this register and take part in regular online surveys which will assist us with our strategic development and service planning in the wider community.
